Nanoparticles in radiation therapies for personalized cancer treatments

Speaker at International Cancer Research Conference 2025 - Sandrine Lacombe
University of Paris-Saclay, France
Title : Nanoparticles in radiation therapies for personalized cancer treatments

Abstract:

Radiotherapy is used for 50% of the cancer treatments. Despite important technological improvements, secondary effects remain significant due to lack of tumor selectivity and/or radioresistance. A new strategy combining radiation with tumor targeted nanoagents to improve tumor diagnostic and therapeutic index of radiations has emerged.  The potential of theranostic platinum nanoparticles will be presented.

Biography:

Sandrine LACOMBE is full professor at U.Paris Saclay, expert in the development of theranostic nanoparticles for radiation therapies. She’s leading a research group in the Institute of Molecular sciences (CNRS). She obtained her PhD in science at U Paris Sud and she performed a postdoc with a Fritz-Haber fellowship in the group of Prof Ertl, Nobel prize 2007, at the Fritz-Haber Institut Berlin, Germany. She was invited researcher at the Sherbrooke university hospital (Canada), the nuclear center of Bariloche (Argentina) and the Sydney university (Australia).  She ‘ leading the interdisciplinary institute for innovative radiation strategies iNanotheRad, which merges the community of radiooncologists, medical physicists, chemists, biologists, physicists, engineers of Paris Saclay.
