Theranostic nanoparticles – radiation therapies combined protocols

Radiotherapy is used for 50% of patients. The challenge is to improve efficiency and tumor targeting whilst preserving healthy tissue and spare side effects. The development of radioenhancing nanoparticles (REN) capable to concentrate at the tumor and amplify radiation effects, is a rapidly developing field. A state-of -the-art of the current developments of NP-radiation combined protocols will be presented. Results obtained with NPs combined with medical particle beam modality and the new FLASH therapy modality will be presented.
