Beauty of herbal medicine in the global fight for cancer

Speaker at International Cancer Research Conference 2026 - Najjemba Eseza Precious
Mengo Senior School, Uganda
Title : Beauty of herbal medicine in the global fight for cancer

Abstract:

Introduction: Cancer remains one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide, with conventional treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery often causing severe side effects. Natural medicine has gained attention as a potential complementary approach to cancer care.
CANEZA, a herbal formulation made from ginger (Zingiber officinale), lemon (Citrus limon), and soursop leaves (Annona muricata), was developed as a potential adjunct therapy for cancer patients.

Objective: To evaluate the anti-cancer properties of CANEZA and its potential to improve patient outcomes by reducing the side effects of conventional cancer treatments.

Methods:
The study followed a multi-phase approach:

  1. Phytochemical Analysis – CANEZA underwent laboratory testing at the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) to identify its active compounds and assess its biochemical properties.

Results:

  • Validated by NCRI: CANEZA successfully passed laboratory testing at the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI), confirming its potential therapeutic properties.
  • Antioxidant and Cytotoxic Properties: Results indicate that CANEZA contains bioactive compounds with strong antioxidant activity and selective toxicity against cancer cells.

Conclusion: The successful validation of CANEZA at NCRI marks a significant step toward integrating herbal medicine into cancer treatment. With promising antioxidant and anti-cancer properties, CANEZA presents potential as a safe and effective complementary therapy. Further research, including large-scale clinical trials, is essential to confirm its efficacy and optimize dosage formulations.

Biography:

Najjemba Eseza Precious is a high school student at Mengo Senior School in Uganda with a deep interest in cancer research and herbal medicine. Driven by personal experience and a passion for healthcare innovation, she developed a herbal-based cancer treatment project called CANEZA, made from natural herbal products. This initiative focuses on exploring the potential of plant-based remedies in the fight against cancer, particularly within underserved communities.

Despite her young age, she has taken bold steps—submitting CANEZA for testing at the Natural Chemotherapeutics Research Institute, where it passed initial evaluations. She is currently preparing to present her work to national health bodies, such as the Ministry of Health, seeking support and funding for further research and development.

Her goal is to continue growing this project and, one day work with organizations like the World Health Organization to expand access to affordable, plant-based treatments. Participating in cancer research and herbal medicine conferences is a key step for her in learning from experts and contributing meaningfully to global health efforts.
